Using eggs for fertilizer

Has anyone ever used eggs as fertilizer? I remember seeing something on a website about putting an egg under a plant.

The way it is supposed to work:

  • Poke small hole in egg shell.
  • Place egg in the soil.
  • Plant the plant on top of the egg.
What is supposed to happen, as the egg breaks down, the plant absorbs the nutrients. Kind of like how Native Americans used fish as fertilizer.

Spring 2018 I am going to do some raised beds using chicken manure for fetilizer. I may add some eggs to the mix and see how it goes.
