Potato planting time getting close

Around February 14th is usually when potatoes are planted, at least here in the south.

I am rather looking forward to disking up the soil, and planting the potatoes. I usually go with red potatoes, but have also planted butter potatoes. Butter potatoes do not seem to produce as much as the reds.

Fertilizer is usually 13-13-13 or 10-20-10. Plant in the middle of February, then six weeks later side dress the plants with fertilizer, and work the fertilizer into the soil with a disk, rake or hoe.
